Inexpensive. Staff excellent. Savings on hotel expense help to enjoy other island activities.
Rather outdated. No free parking. No free shuttle to airport or beach.

Friendly and helpfull staff, front desk, parking to housekeeping included. Reasonable rates. Room key needed to access lift to room.
Bathroom small, shower / bath drain hole was blocked, water took hours to drain. Unable to access lift from car park to room, room key worked some of the time to enter room and lift access only from reception. No room key needed to to travel down lift from rooms, anyone can travel on lift to leave building.

Amazing hotel with amenities like the rooftop pool, fitness center, and laundry. The staff helped me with early check-in on my first stay, which I still remember. I highly recommend it! Coming back for Christmas.

Hotel was clean and adequately met my needs I was out of the hotel most of the time - checked in at 10:30 p.m. on Thurs, out by 7:00 A.M. on Friday, back at 10:30 p.m. Friday and checked out at 6:45 on Saturday morning. Good value for the money - $69/night. Building security was excellent.
Had a been staying longer, I would have appreciated internet access in my room. Additionally, the two laptops on the table opposite the check-in/out counter in the lobby were both out of order.

It was excellently located. All the eating places were close by, as was the beach. The Hawaiian Convention Center was 6-7 minutes on foot. A microwave owen and a coffee maker were very useful. The view was good. The room was clean. The staff were helpful. They checked us in early when we reached the hotel from the airport.
The wash basin was quite small, and water would collect on the counter around it. The swimming pool was small. The small air-conditioner cooled the room well, but made a fair bit of noise.

One of the staff (a little girl) is extremely nice and help me a lot to find the transportation infomation and tour info. Some of the staff is not so kind and relunctant to answer my question, just simply say" I don't know". There is a goog view from my room. The location is just so so. About 15 minutes' walk to Al Mona shopping center , Walmart, Waikiki.
The wardrobe is old and the inside is speckled (I am sensitive to this) . The carpet looks not very clean. The fan in the bathroom is not working,I called the front desk and asked someone to check for it, I didn't know if there is anyone came to check it, but it still didn't work untill I left.

Nice rooms, good location, good price, clean, friendly staff.
Bed bugs, non-opening windows, no in-room wireless or e-mail. I assume that the bed bugs were an isolated incident. The room had two beds and we switched during the night to the other bed, where there were no problems. The hotel management gave us another room, took the bad room out of service and will be calling an exterminator.

great access to parks and beachfront attractions
i loved waking up to the amazing view of the canal and catching the morning sunrise while watching canoes glide across the water, and being able to stroll to the nearby international market place and waikiki beach made my weekend adventures effortless and enjoyable.

Good price for location. Friendly staff. Decent location. Clean room. Lot of potential.
No WiFi (if I knew I would have stayed somewhere else) seriously its almost 2012 and no WiFi? Also stairs not easily identified or located. Good hotel, lots of potential if they had WiFi. Its minuscule overhead and makes your trip so much more convenient.

At abt $80 per night inc taxes, the Monarch is a great deal. Very close to shopping and Waikiki Beach. We were there for a week and had a wonderful time, the staff was very friendly and helpful, enjoyed the pool, great views of the city, microwave, coffee pot, and fridge available. The rooms are not fancy, but considering the costs for many of the nearby hotels, we were very pleased.

Check-in and check-out went smoothly; security responded promptly when we reported an issue.
We were placed in a smoking room when I requested non-smoking and the room was next to tenants/a party with a stereo system (yes, it was annoying).
